Iritti> Wildfires rage in Mudikkayam space of Ayyankunnu. Illikkakunnel Mathew and Pallattukunnel Biju have been injured after they fell and ran away whereas accumulating cashew nuts. Many farmers’ coconut, banana and cashew plantations have been destroyed. Illikkakunnel Joshi Sinu, Pallattukunnel Biju, Sabu, Jobi, Pleasure, Kuttiyanikkal Saji and Naduvath Subramanian destroyed acres of land.
Wildfires have been raging for months in Mudikkayam, Kachcherikadavu, Palathinkadavu and Parakkamala areas. Elephants come from the forests of Kerala and Karnataka. Elephants roam the inhabited space throughout the day. Fifteen jungles descended on Mudikayam final day. The state border villages of Mudikkayam, Kachcherikadavu, Palathinkadavu and Parakkamala have been in a state of panic for months. Herds of elephants come from the Aralam Forest and the Brahmagiri Protected Forest in Karnataka. There is no such thing as a protection system on the forest boundaries. Some locations have electrical fences however aren’t useful. Ayyankunnu panchayat member Bijoy Plathottam demanded that forest division officers conduct an in depth examine and put together a plan to guard the lives and property of the individuals. Bijoy stated that if safety was not supplied to the elephants, there could be a mass agitation.
