Preliminary probe has revealed that the electrocution was possible triggered because of the short-circuit of a copper wire of the generator put in on the rear facet of the carriage automobile.

A complete of 36 passengers on board the van had been heading in the direction of the Alpesh temple close to Maynaguri in Jalpaiguri district.

Among the survivors have knowledgeable the Mathabhanga Extra Superintendent of Police, Amit Barma that the short-circuit occurred when the automobile was crossing the Dharala Bridge on the Jamaldaha-Changrabandha state highways.

“As per information that we have received from the surviving passengers the short-circuit somehow happened, following which many passengers were electrocuted. The driver of the carriage vehicle without wasting time hastened towards the Jalpaiguri hospital district,” Barma informed mediapersons.

Nevertheless, after reaching the Jalpaiguri district hospital, the motive force of the van went lacking and the police try to find him.

The victims had been primarily residents of Sitalkuchi space in Cooch Behar.
