3 IS militants, 1 soldier killed in Iraq


Baghdad: Three Islamic State (IS) militants and an Iraqi soldier have been killed in an airstrike and a separate assault by IS militants in Iraq’s northern province of Kirkuk, safety sources mentioned.

A press release by Jabbar al-Taie, Commander of Kirkuk Operations Command, mentioned on Sunday that Iraqi plane bombarded an IS hideout within the Altun Kupri space north of the namesake provincial capital Kirkuk, almost 250 km north of Baghdad, leaving three IS militants killed. Xinhua information company reported.

In a separate incident, a soldier was killed and one other wounded when IS militants attacked a military base within the Kolan space east of Kirkuk metropolis, Maj. Ihsan al-Baiyati from Kirkuk police instructed Xinhua.

Earlier within the day, two civilians have been wounded when IS militants attacked their automotive within the al-Eith space in Salahudin province north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a supply from the provincial police instructed Xinhua on situation of anonymity.

Over the previous months, Iraqi safety forces have carried out operations towards extremist militants to crack down on their intensified actions.
