Sensex rises 508 points; Nifty rises above 14,450 mark
The BSE Sensex rose by 508 points on Monday on the first day of the trading week amid mixed trend globally. ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries and Axis Bank, which had a strong position in the Sensex, gained strength in the market. The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 508.06 points, or 1.06 percent, to close at 48,386.51 points. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty jumped 143.65 points, or one percent, to close at 14,485. Axis Bank was the biggest gainer among the Sensex stocks. It gained more than 4 percent. Apart from this, ICICI Bank, UltraTech Cement, HUL, State Bank of India, Power Grid, Bajaj Auto and Reliance Industries were also good. On the other hand, HCL Tech, HDFC Bank, Maruti, Sun Pharma and TCS etc. declined.
