7.3 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan, 4 dead, 97 injured

TAIPEI: 4 folks have been killed and 97 others have been injured after a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck Hualien, Taiwan on Wednesday morning, native media reported.

Red alert of tsunami has been issued after the earthquake.

A report issued by the China Earthquake Community Heart (CENC) mentioned the epicenter was at 23.81 levels north latitude and 121.74 levels east longitude, at a depth of 12 km.

In response to native media experiences, sturdy tremors have been felt in numerous elements of Taiwan, inflicting Taipei's metro system to halt operations.

Taiwan's meteorological company mentioned a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck at a depth of 15.5 km at 7:58 a.m. on Wednesday. The epicenter was positioned 25 km south-southeast of Hualien County Authorities. Hualien County recorded a most depth of magnitude 6, Xinhua information company reported.

After the earthquake, CENC reported two earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 and 5.9, respectively, inside about 40 minutes, whose epicenters have been monitored in close by areas.
