Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Journalists’ Union (KJU) has demanded that IAS officer N Prashanth be prosecuted for insulting a journalist on social media and taking exemplary disciplinary action. N Prashanth, Managing Director, Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation, has taken to social media to criticize Mathrubhumi correspondent KP Pravitha for using derogatory emojis and derogatory remarks on social media. It is natural not to respond if you are not interested, but it is not decent for a senior civil service official to try to insult a journalist by replying to pornographic images.
His wife Lakshmi Prashant has reacted insultingly to the media through a post she shared with Prashant on Facebook. Seeking feedback from the concerned authorities on controversial issues is the norm in the media not only in Kerala but all over the world. The IAS officer responded with obscene emojis to a very polite message sent to him asking if he could talk now when he was not on the phone. Union state president KP Raji, general secretary ES Subhash, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and chief secretary Vishwas Mehta said in a petition that this was not against women but a challenge and insult to the entire media community and civil society.
