Kovalam: The fiftieth anniversary of the martyrdom of Ammu, who was shot lifeless by police throughout a protest by coir staff for the minimal wage, has been noticed. The Travancore Coir Staff Union (CITU) laid a wreath on the Martyrs’ Corridor in Vazhamuttam. CITU State President Ananthalawattam Anandan inaugurated the memorial service. Survivors of the strike and kinfolk of the lifeless had been honored.

Thiruvananthapuram: CITU state president Ananthalawattam Anandan has mentioned that coir staff are getting higher wages on account of the martyrdom of Vazhamuttam Ammu. He was inaugurating the fiftieth anniversary of the Vazhamuttam Ammu martyrdom led by the Travancore Coir Staff Union (CITU). Union President R Subhash presided over the perform. CPI (M) district secretary Anavur Nagappan, labor minister V Sivankutty, CITU district secretary C Jayanbabu, PS Harikumar and union common secretary N Saikumar spoke.
