An Indian man received the first dose of Russia’s Sputnik V, which will be available in the market next week.

New Delhi: Russia’s ‘Sputnik V’ vaccine will be given in the country without India Biotech’s Kovacin and Oxford-AstraZeneca Kovishield. The Russian vaccine will be available in the market from next week. However, this Russian vaccine will be a little more expensive than the two vaccines made in India. A dose of Sputnik V will cost Rs 995.40.

It is rumored that Sputnik V will be built in India, which is why the price of the vaccine has been kept that way. This was stated by Dr. Reddy Lab, a company importing Russian vaccines to India. The company said it received clearance for the vaccine from the Central Drugs Laboratory on Thursday.

Let me tell you, there are still only 1.5 million doses of Sputnik V available in India. On the other hand, the country is now undergoing vaccination campaign with covacin and covshield vaccine. The central government buys the two vaccines for Rs 250, but the vaccine companies sell them at different prices in the market and in private hospitals.

The trial results of the vaccine were published in The Lancet in February this year. Since then, the vaccine has been called safe and effective. The first dose of this Russian vaccine has been given to one person in Hyderabad today. The first shipment of the Sputnik vaccine arrived in India on May 1, according to Dr Reddy’s Lab.
