Another 6 deaths due to lack of oxygen in Karnataka

More than 24 people have died in various hospitals in the Chamrajnagar district hospital in Karnataka after they died due to lack of oxygen. Two patients died at Arka Hospital in Yelahanka in the city due to lack of oxygen.

Four people died at Afzalpur Taluk Hospital in Kalaburgi district due to delay in delivery of oxygen cylinders. One day ago, nine patients died here due to lack of oxygen. All four, including two Kovid patients, were on oxygen.

The Karnataka High Court has directed the Central and State Governments to clarify the oxygen shortage in the state. The Center has released only 865 tonnes of the state’s 1700 tonnes of oxygen. The center should immediately explain the increase in oxygen supply.

More hospitals have come forward, saying they are helpless as the oxygen shortage continues to worsen. About 90 per cent of the hospital’s ICU beds are cov- ered and this greatly increases the need for oxygen, said a doctor at Apollo Hospital. Jagadeesh Chicago said.
