Ayodhya land grab: Case against journalist accused

New Delhi
Uttar Pradesh police have arrested a journalist for allegedly encroaching on Ayodhya Ram Temple Trust general secretary Chambath Rai. Journalists Vineet Narain, Alka Lahoti and Rajneesh have been charged with 18 counts of attempting to disrupt communal harmony, fabricating evidence and fraud. The case is based on a complaint filed by Rai’s brother Sanjay Bansal.

Three days ago, Narine posted on Facebook that Chambat Rai and his brothers were trying to seize 20,000 square meters of land in Bijnor by expatriate Alka Lahoti. Narine said Lahoti had lodged a complaint with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Following this, the Bijnor police acquitted Roy and his brothers. It was later that Bansal lodged a complaint. According to Bansal, Rajneesh had taken Narine on the phone to investigate the allegations and that was why he had lodged a complaint against Rajneesh.

The media has previously exposed massive irregularities in the land transactions of the Ram Temple Trust. BJP middlemen are buying land from locals for a pittance and selling it to trusts for more than ten times the price.
