Bengal Lok Sabha Elections: 47 candidates are in the fray for three seats in the second phase, Raiganj got the maximum security.
Kolkata: The destiny of 47 candidates, together with the state president of BJP in West Bengal, might be sealed within the second part of elections in three Lok Sabha constituencies of the state on Friday.
The BJP has sitting MPs in all three Lok Sabha constituencies – Raiganj, Darjeeling and Balurghat – the place voting will happen on Friday.
Of the three constituencies, Raiganj constituency in North Dinajpur district might be in particular focus resulting from its sensitivity.
In Raiganj, the BJP candidate this time is Kartik Paul, who has changed Debasree Chaudhary, the sitting Lok Sabha member from the constituency. This time she is contesting from Kolkata-South seat. Paul's nearest rivals are Krishna Kalyani of Trinamool Congress and Ali Imran Ramz alias Victor of Congress.
This time there are a complete of 20 candidates in Raiganj, out of which 19 are males and one lady.
Among the many three constituencies the place voting is being held on Friday, Raiganj has the best variety of delicate cubicles at 418.
In Darjeeling, Trinamool Congress has fielded former bureaucrat Gopal Lama, whereas BJP has re-fielded its sitting MP Raju Bista and Congress has fielded Munish Tamang.
After not getting the ticket, sitting BJP MLA from Kurseong meeting constituency, one of many seven seats of Darjeeling Lok Sabha, Bishnu Prasad Sharma is contesting as an unbiased candidate from Darjeeling this time.
This time there are a complete of 14 candidates in Darjeeling, out of which 12 are males and two are ladies. The variety of delicate cubicles in Darjeeling is 408.
In Balurghat, the primary contestants towards BJP's sitting Lok Sabha MP and state celebration president Sukanta Majumdar are minister of state Biplab Mitra of Trinamool Congress and Joydeb Siddhant of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP).
This time there are a complete of 13 candidates in Balurghat and all are males. The variety of delicate cubicles in Darjeeling is 308.
In keeping with information of the workplace of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), West Bengal, presently 299 firms of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) are in West Bengal, of which 272 firms might be deployed for the three constituencies on Friday. The remainder might be saved in reserve.
The CAPFs might be assisted by 12,983 state police personnel.
Raiganj has the best allocation of 111 firms of CAPFs, adopted by 88 firms in Darjeeling and 73 firms in Balurghat.
Voting will begin at 7 am on Friday and can proceed until 6 pm.
