Internet desk. The counting of votes for the results of the Gujarat Municipal Elections has ended. In the results so far, BJP has won 294 seats while Congress has 37 seats. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party has managed to win more than 25 seats. AAP will play the role of opposition in Surat Municipal Corporation. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was happy after winning the elections, said that the party has done well in the state. Anti-incumbency does not apply in Gujarat.

As soon as the counting began, the BJP had taken a huge lead in Ahmedabad. Surat City Congress Committee President Babu Raika has resigned from the post after the party’s dismal performance as his party failed to win any seat in the district. After the results of the recent local elections in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad etc., Gujarat has its eyes on everyone.

Apart from BJP, Congress this time, Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is also in the fray. In the elections to six municipal corporations of Gujarat, the turnout was 46.1 percent. A total of 144 wards of Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar municipal corporations were voted on Sunday from 7 am to 6 pm. According to the final figures released by the commission, Ahmedabad recorded the lowest turnout of 42.5 percent and Jamnagar 53.4 percent.
