Boat carrying migrants to Spain capsizes near Morocco, more than 40 Pakistani citizens killed

A ship carrying 80 passengers, together with greater than 40, are mentioned to be Pakistanis, the Overseas Workplace (FO) mentioned on Thursday. Migrant rights group Strolling Borders mentioned greater than 50 migrants had drowned whereas making an attempt to cross from West Africa to Spain's Canary Islands. The group mentioned Moroccan authorities had rescued 36 individuals a day earlier from a airplane that had departed from Mauritania on January 2 with 86 migrants, together with 66 Pakistanis. Strolling Borders CEO Helena Maleno mentioned on Twitter that 44 of those that drowned have been from Pakistan.

Pakistan's Overseas Ministry mentioned in an announcement that its embassy in Morocco is in contact with native authorities. “Our Embassy in Rabat (Morocco) has informed us that a boat carrying 80 passengers, including several Pakistani nationals, that had departed from Mauritania capsized near the Moroccan port of Dakhla,” the ministry mentioned in an announcement. Many survivors, together with Pakistanis, are staying in a camp close to Dakhla.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed condolences on this accident. He tweeted, 'Strict motion might be taken towards heinous crimes like human trafficking'.

Prime Minister Sharif reiterated his dedication to take strict motion towards human smugglers and brokers, terming it as taking part in with the lives of harmless residents and referred to as for a cease to such circumstances.
