Kolkata : An Indian smuggler was nabbed by the Border Security Force in the border area of Nadia district on Thursday evening with different types of medicines worth Rs one lakh. The smuggler was taking these medicines from the area of the border post Haldarpada to smuggle them into Bangladesh. On Thursday evening, when the personnel of the border post Haldarpara of the 54th Corps Border Security Force went out on a special patrol on the basis of information received by the Intelligence Branch. The jawans saw a motorcycle approaching from Haldarpara village, whose identity as per the information received earlier, signaled the soldiers to stop. On this the motorcyclist immediately started turning back but the ready jawans caught hold of him and seized various types of medicines along with a mobile phone from his possession. After bringing him to the border post Haldarpara, during interrogation, he revealed that his name is Hrithik Vishwas (22) and he is a resident of village Banpur. He told that he had taken these medicines from a person named Bapin from Majdiya and was going to give them to Sagar and Prasanjit Bhattacharya, residents of Gede. Next they were going to send these medicines to Bangladesh. For this he has got 500 rupees. He was handed over to the police station Krishnaganj for further legal proceedings along with the confiscated items. Deshraj Singh, Commanding Officer, 54th Corps Border Security Force, said that the Border Security Force is taking stringent measures to prevent smuggling of various types of goods along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
