China relocates residents in the world’s highest county for better life

Tsonyi, the world’s highest county in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Area, began the relocation of its second batch of residents on Tuesday, as a part of the area’s plan to enhance individuals’s dwelling circumstances and defend the delicate native ecosystem.

Greater than 300 residents left their hometown within the county’s Doima Township at round 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, transferring almost 1,000 km southward to their new dwelling in Singpori, Xinhua information company reported.

Singpori is on the north financial institution of the Yarlung Zangbo River within the metropolis of Shannan, situated at an altitude of three,600 meters. It’s only some 10 km from the airport within the regional capital Lhasa.

4 townships of the county will full relocation by early August, and by then, all seven townships of Tsonyi, together with the three that moved in 2019, could have accomplished relocation.

“After moving to my new home, I will be able to visit the monasteries in Lhasa and Shannan more frequently to worship Buddha,” stated Garma, a 70-year-old herder from Doima Township.
