The Delhi High Court has ruled that the families of those who died due to lack of oxygen are entitled to compensation. He also directed to submit the details of those who died due to lack of oxygen in Delhi within four days.
An affidavit containing the patient’s name, hospital information, time of death and cause of death should be provided. The bench comprising Justices Vipinsankhi and Rekhapali observed that it was the responsibility of the government to pay compensation.
The government should also inform the court by Thursday about the oxygen levels in Delhi hospitals and the oxygen refueling system. It also asked hospitals to report exactly how much oxygen is left on the government’s website. Lawyers representing various hospitals have asked the court to intervene to prevent the supply of oxygen to smaller hospitals. The court said the hospitals were under a lot of pressure and the government should not take steps to put more pressure on them.
