Delhi riots: Big fall for police: Court

New Delhi
The Additional Sessions Court has said that there has been a complete failure of the supervision of top police officials in several cases related to the riots in north-east Delhi. Judge Vinod Yadav observed that the FIRs were filed to protect the culprits. The court observed that the Delhi Police had rejected the review petition against the order of the Magistrate’s Court to register the complaints of Nishar Ahmed in two. Top officials at various police stations in north-east Delhi are failing to handle various cases related to the riots. The court said the victims would get justice if top officials ensure a solution to the problem. The court ruled that the police had diverted the investigation into the anti-CAA protesters.

On February 25 last year, Nishar Ahmed’s house in Gokulpuri was looted and two bikes set on fire. This came after a group of 24 people called for an attack on non-Muslims. However, on March 18, the police received a complaint that the theft had taken place. However, in both the cases, the requirement to register different FIRs was not accepted. He then approached the court.
