New Delhi: CPI (M) politburo member Brinda Karat has said that the Delhi Police is trying to cover up the role played by BJP leaders in the riots in north-east Delhi in February last year. An impartial inquiry is needed into the coup in the administration of justice. Speaking at a press conference with the victims of the riots, Brinda Karat said that the Delhi Police was sending a message of what could happen to those in the central government.
The video of BJP leader Kapil Mishra’s speech inciting riots has been released. No case has been registered against Mishra. Mishra said yesterday that he would continue to preach like this. The Delhi Police, which has registered cases against those who oppose the central government’s policies, is not touching those who instigated the riots.
No statement from eyewitnesses of the killings. Court proceedings are dragging on. The five-day riot in the country’s capital, which is directly controlled by the home ministry, is doubtful. From February 22 to 26, when the riots took place, thousands of telephone calls were made to police stations asking for protection.
There was no response. Neither the ban nor the law was announced in a timely manner. There was not enough police deployment. “Now the SIT is trying to hide the truth,” she said. Asghari, who lost her two children, Ram Paswan, who lost her son, Mohammad Vakil, who lost his sight in the acid attack, Faisal, who lost his brother, and Malliga, who lost her husband, shared their grief.
