ED says CM not above law as Kejriwal questions logic behind his arrest

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday stated a chief minister isn’t above the legislation, whereas Arvind Kejriwal questioned the logic behind his arrest within the liquor coverage case.

Kejriwal stated that on this case, CBI filed 31,000 pages and ED filed 25,000 pages however no court docket proved them responsible.

He stated, “The case has been going on for two years. The case was filed on August 17. No court has found me guilty. There are no charges against me nor has any case been registered against me. But I Has been arrested.” ,

Terming his arrest a political conspiracy, Kejriwal alleged that persons are being “made government witnesses” within the case and they’re being “forced” to vary their statements.

He additionally raised the difficulty of electoral bonds and claimed that the BJP was “getting money”, a cost strongly contested by the ED.

Responding to Kejriwal's allegation of donation of Rs 55 crore by Sarath Reddy to BJP, Extra Solicitor General stated it has nothing to do with the liquor rip-off.

He stated, “We are not concerned with the fact that someone is giving money to someone. It has nothing to do with the liquor scam.”

The ASG stated the ED has proof to point out that the Delhi Chief Minister had demanded Rs 100 crore in bribe.

“We have not arrested him because he is the chief minister, we have arrested him on the basis of material available with us,” the ED advised the court docket.
