Election Commission seizes money from house of relative of DMK's Vellore Lok Sabha candidate

CHENNAI: The Election Fee (EC) flying squad late on Sunday evening seized Rs 7.5 lakh from the residence of a relative of DMK's Vellore Lok Sabha candidate Kathir Anand.

The flying squad seized the cash from the residence of Natarajan, a relative of DMK state common secretary and Tamil Nadu Water Assets Minister S Duraimurugan.

In accordance with sources within the Election Fee's flying squad, the cash was discovered from the roof of Natarajan's home.

It’s noteworthy that within the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rs 12 crore was seized from the residence of a relative of Kathir Anand and the election was canceled by the President of India.

Elections had been later held in August 2019 and Kathir Anand gained the seat by 8,000 votes.

S Duraimurugan was carefully related to late DMK chief Kalaignar Karunanidhi and is now near his son and present Chief Minister MK Stalin.
