As the candidature debate intensifies in Delhi, the number of senior leaders preparing for an open war is on the rise. UDF Convener MM Hasan, KPCC Vice President Thampanoor Ravi, Palode Ravi, N Sakthan, Varkala Kahar, Sarath Chandra Prasad and a number of other leaders are in a rage.
The High Command had given a heavy responsibility to the selection committee headed by Oommen Chandy, from candidate selection to campaign strategy. But there has been no committee for the past week; No advice. The only battle taking place in Delhi is between the Congress groups and the High Command. As the candidature debate intensifies in Delhi, the number of senior leaders preparing for an open war is on the rise.
UDF convener MM Hasan, KPCC vice-president Thampanoor Ravi, Palode Ravi, N Sakthan, Varkala Kahar and Sarath Chandra Prasad are among the leaders who are angry. With the release of the list of candidates, the number of dissidents will definitely increase. General Secretary Vijayan Thomas, who resigned from the Congress yesterday, has decided to join the BJP. A large number of General Secretary and Vice Presidents are preparing to sever ties with the Congress.
People like MM Hasan are raising the question of why prominent leaders have been cut down and cornered. Hasan, who is in charge of coordinating election activities as the UDF convener, asked if this was his experience and what he had to say about others.
“It simply came to our notice then that we were being targeted by the AICC,” he said. In that case, what is the justification for excluding those who came first in the survey report, ‘said the KPCC general secretary.
The Delhi talks have kept even senior leaders, including UDF convener MM Hasan, in the dark. There has never been a time when prominent leaders have been cornered en masse. Some of the leaders claim that the cowardice of KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran is the cause of their misery.
Ignoring themselves, they are in communication with senior leaders across the state about future plans. The decision is to wait until the list comes out. Eight days have passed since the first meeting of the Congress Screening Committee appointed by the High Command. The committee met in Thiruvananthapuram on March 5. He said that a phase of candidate selection had been completed and that the list would be released after discussions in Delhi from 7 to 9 p.m. The selection committee and the screening committee have met in Delhi several times but the dispute remains.
