Thodupuzha: PJ Joseph has blamed the Congress for its heavy defeat in the Assembly elections. One of the reasons for the failure was the group dispute in Congress. Joseph openly said that Congress should be able to work beyond the group.
Congress must be able to fill the gaps and move forward. It does not matter to blame only the constituent parties, the Congress should introspect. The dispute in the UDF is irrelevant. The UDF lost as part of the left wave. Overall, there was a flow to the LDF. The Congress won only 21 of the 95 seats it contested. Despite the arrival of central leaders, the Congress was unable to make any headway.
No one should make statements contrary to the spirit of the UDF. The front is where the constituent parties join. There were many problems in the local elections. The UDF could not solve those problems and shortcomings. There is no commitment in the UDF.
The symbol is not the reason for the defeat of the Kerala Congress. Joseph said that the Kerala Congress candidate lost in Ettumanoor as Latika Subhash, who was denied a Congress seat, contested as a rebel.
