Fuel price hike: Joint strike committee’s vehicle strike on Tuesday

Thiruvananthapuram: The strike organized by the Joint Strike Committee will be held on Tuesday demanding a change in the central government’s policy which is causing petrol and diesel prices to go up day by day. The strike will last from 6 am to 6 pm.

All trade unions and vehicle owners except BMS will go on strike. Autorickshaws, taxis, light vehicles, freight vehicles, private buses and KSRTC buses will not be allowed on the road. Milk, newspapers, ambulances, general election vehicles and weddings will be excluded from the strike.

Ahead of the strike, workers and employers will hold protests at all workplaces on Monday evening. P Nandakumar, on behalf of the Joint Strike Committee, urged the people to co-operate with the strike by postponing the movement of private vehicles, including two-wheelers, as the hike in fuel prices is adversely affecting the entire population.
