According to the country’s health ministry, Ethiopia, Africa’s second most populous country, reported 124 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 274,899 as of Friday evening. The ministry said that 14 new deaths and 439 more people recovered, taking the national death toll to 4,276 and the total number of recoveries to 253,634. Ethiopia has so far reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the East Africa region. According to the news agency Xinhua.
According to the ministry, Ethiopia currently has 16,987 active COVID-19 cases, of which 228 are in serious health conditions. Data from the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that Ethiopia’s Covid-19 cases account for about 5 percent of Africa’s total cases.
Ethiopia is among the countries most affected by Corona-19 in Africa after South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt.

The CSSE data shows that Colombia (3,888,614), Spain (3,757,442), Germany (3,728,601) and Iran (3,080,526). In terms of deaths, Brazil is second with 498,499 deaths.
