Goa: AAP MLAs to stay away from voting for the post of Deputy Speaker

Panaji | Two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in Goa on Friday stated they’d abstain from voting for the Deputy Speaker’s election to be held as we speak.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Joshua D’Souza on behalf of the opposition, whereas Congress’ lady MLA Delilah Lobo is within the fray. AAP MLAs Venji Vegas and Cruz Silva instructed reporters that they didn’t know who was contesting on behalf of the opposition. “No one has contacted us to support us,” Vegas stated. We do not know who’s contesting from the opposition camp.

When contacted, Lobo stated that she would now seek the advice of all of the members and attempt to persuade them to vote. Requested about AAP’s resolution to abstain from voting, she stated, “I’ll now take his recommendation. The ruling BJP has 20 MLAs within the forty-member Goa Meeting and is supported by two from the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and three independents. Together with 5 others. Within the meeting elections held in February this yr, the Congress had received 11 seats. Goa Ahead Party (GFP) and Revolutionary Goa Party (RGP) received one seat every, whereas AAP acquired two seats.
