Government asked the steel industry to prepare a time bound plan to reduce carbon emissions

New Delhi | The Ministry of Metal has requested the stakeholders within the metal business to organize a time sure motion plan to cut back carbon emissions. The ministry mentioned that this must be completed as per the COP26 commitments of the central authorities. In accordance with a ministry doc, the iron and metal business accounts for about eight % of the overall annual carbon dioxide emissions globally.

Then again, this sector contributes 12 % of the overall carbon dioxide emissions in India. Thus, given the commitments made within the COP26 Local weather Change Conference, the Indian metal business must considerably scale back its emissions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned on the COP26 World Local weather Summit in November 2021 that India would meet the goal of web zero emissions by 2070. Metal Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh in a current assembly urged the stakeholders to organize a time sure motion plan and make concerted efforts to cut back emissions from the metal business in step with the commitments made by the federal government in COP26.
