Heavy rain and wind during the next three hours; Landslide in Kannur

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM> Within the subsequent three hours, the Central Meteorological Division has knowledgeable that there’s a risk of remoted thundershowers and wind gusting as much as 40 kmph in all of the districts of Kerala within the subsequent three hours. Though the Central Meteorological Division has given a yellow alert in some districts, there’s a risk of remoted heavy thundershowers within the hilly areas, so the hilly areas which have obtained heavy rains in the previous few days have been orange. A pink alert has been issued in 4 districts of the state tomorrow in view of heavy rains. Red alert was declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on Tuesday. An opportunity of very heavy rain is predicted at remoted locations. Orange alert has been declared in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts on Tuesday. Orange alert was declared in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on Wednesday and in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Thursday.

Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are on yellow alert as we speak. Yellow alert is in place tomorrow in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Yellow alert was introduced in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Kasaragod districts on seventh, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts on eighth and Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on ninth.

The Central Meteorological Division has knowledgeable that it’s not advisable to go fishing from Kerala coast from September 5 to September 8, Lakshadweep coast from September 5 to September 9 and Karnataka coast on September 8 and 9.

People in low-lying areas, river banks and hilly areas which are susceptible to landslides ought to train excessive warning because the rains proceed in areas which have obtained heavy rainfall prior to now few days.

In the meantime, there was one other landslide on the Kannur Netumpoil-Mananthavadi move highway. The landslide occurred within the forest adjoining to the twenty-seventh mile seminary villa.

Kallikode in Palakkad district was flooded. Palakkad-Kozhikode Nationwide Freeway flooded. The water entered the highway after overflowing the stream at Panayampada. A number of homes on either side of the highway had been flooded.
