Impact of Hurricane Toute on Kerala for next 24 hours; CM urges vigilance

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Hurricane Toute has formed in the Arabian Sea. Although the epicenter was reported below the Kerala coast, the cyclone continued to affect Kerala. The Chief Minister said in a press conference that the cyclone is expected to affect Kerala for the next 24 hours.

CM’s words about this …

The Central Meteorological Department has issued red alerts in various districts. Widespread rains continue in the state. Two days of wind and rain caused extensive damage. According to the Meteorological Department, the total rainfall recorded in Kerala in two days was 145.5 mm.

Kochi and Peermede received over 200 mm of rain. The wind poses a great danger. Tree trunks and twigs are more dangerous. So as mentioned last day we need to make sure that the trees and branches in and around our yard are safe.

Even if the cyclone changes, monsoon rains will reach Kerala soon. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast rains by May 31. Even in the rainy season, falling trees can cause more accidents. Good care should be taken in this regard. All the small dams have been opened and a controlled amount of water has been released. Those living below such dams should remain vigilant.

Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least two places. The storm affected nine districts. It is a matter of concern that the coast of Kerala is not safe. The seawall is not a permanent solution.
