Indonesia: 12 women killed, two injured due to landslide in illegal gold mine

Medan (Indonesia) | A landslide occurred throughout an unlawful gold mining operation on the Sumatra island of Indonesia, as a consequence of which about 12 girls had been buried underneath a number of tons of soil, whose our bodies had been pulled out by the rescue crew. The police gave this info on Friday. In a small and unauthorized gold mine in a distant village in north Sumatra’s Mandalig Natal district, about 14 girls had been searching for gold in a 2-metre (6.5-ft) deep pit on Thursday, native police chief Marlon Rajgukguk mentioned.

Then the landslide shook the encircling hills and all these girls had been buried underneath its soil. In a two-hour search and rescue operation, two injured girls had been rescued and the our bodies of 12 different girls had been pulled from the rubble, Rajgukguk mentioned. He mentioned the authorities have sealed off unlawful gold pits within the space from the place villagers used to extract gold within the conventional method until Thursday’s landslide.
