The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has termed the request to stay in the IPL longer and decided to add a new rule to the players’ central contract to avoid such situations in future. Shakib wants to play in the IPL in India instead of playing a Test match for the National Team against Sri Lanka in April, but this has been denied outright by BCB President Najmul Hasan.
In an interview with ESPN Cricinfo, Najmul Hasan said that when someone says that we cannot play Test matches, we want to play the franchise league instead. So it becomes very clear that we cannot do much with him. We did not stop Shakib from playing the IPL, but we did not want to.
