Japan: Japanese Coast Guard accidentally fired shells in Okinawa

TOKYO: A Japanese Coast Guard patrol ship by chance opened hearth on the coast in Japan’s southernmost province of Okinawa. Native media gave this info on Wednesday. In response to native media NHK Broadcastkar, the incident occurred on Tuesday. The ship Shimoji was stationed on the port of Irabu Dbipe in Okinawa.

Seven crew members loaded the automated cannon and put it on alert. The Captain was not conscious that the gun was loaded and by chance fired eight rounds of 20 mm caliber in the direction of the shore. No casualties or harm to buildings have been reported within the incident, however home windows of some autos parked on the port have been damaged. The Japanese Coast Guard apologized for the incident and promised it might not occur once more.
