Mahant stated in his assertion that his tongue had slipped. Mahant stated, “The purpose of the forum was to address the problems of farmers troubled by the Waqf Board. It is in this background that I made this comment. It happened because of a slip of the tongue. I should not have made this statement. Muslims are Indian citizens and they Not from any other country. I request you to end this matter here and not pursue it further.”
