Maharashtra Governor asks Uddhav Thackeray-led government to face floor test

Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has requested the secretary of Maharashtra Legislative Meeting to conduct a ground check of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) authorities led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at 11 am on Thursday. A duplicate of the letter issued by Koshyari late on Tuesday is on the market with PTI-language. The letter comes amid a revolt by senior minister Eknath Shide with the ruling Shiv Sena.

Shinde, together with many of the get together MLAs and several other independents, have been tenting at a resort in Guwahati since final week, plunging the Thackeray-led authorities into hassle. In a letter to Rajendra Bhagwat, Principal Secretary, Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan, Koshyari mentioned, “A special session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will be called on June 30 (Thursday) at 11 am, in which voting on the confidence motion against the Chief Minister will be the sole agenda and in any case, The proceedings of the House will have to be completed by 5 pm. “The proceedings of the Home will likely be telecast dwell and acceptable preparations will likely be made for a similar,” the letter mentioned.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Devendra Fadnavis met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday evening amid the political state of affairs in Maharashtra arising out of the insurrection of Shiv Sena chief and minister Eknath Shinde. Fadnavis requested Koshyari to ask the Uddhav Thackeray authorities to show its majority within the meeting. Fadnavis claimed that the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress coalition authorities seems to be in a minority as 39 Shiv Sena MLAs from the Shide faction have mentioned that they don’t assist the federal government.
