Maharashtra: Voting underway for by-elections in Kolhapur North assembly seat

Pune (Maharashtra): Voting is underway on Tuesday for the by-election to the Kolhapur North meeting seat in Maharashtra. The seat fell vacant as a result of dying of Congress MLA Chandrakant Jadhav from Covid-19 in December 2021, on account of which by-elections are being held right here. Polling started at 7 am and can finish at 6 pm, an election official mentioned. Counting of votes will happen on April 16.

There are 15 candidates within the fray and the primary contest is more likely to be between the Congress, a constituent of the Maha Vikas Aghadi-led authorities within the state, and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The late MLA’s spouse Jayshree Jadhav is the Congress candidate, whereas the BJP has fielded Satyajit Kadam. In accordance with the district administration, greater than 2.90 lakh voters can train their franchise. For this, 357 polling stations have been arrange. Superintendent of Police Shailesh Balkawde on Monday appealed to voters to return out in massive numbers to train their franchise.
