Odisha CM urges Gadkari for early completion of Cuttack-Sambalpur NH

Bhubaneswar:Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sought private intervention of Union Minister for Highway Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari for early completion of the Cuttack-Angul-Sambalpur part of NH-55.

In a letter to Gadkari, the Chief Minister stated rehabilitation and up-gradation of Cuttack- Sambalpur nationwide freeway (0.400 km to 265 km) to four-lane carriageway is being carried out by Nationwide Highways Authority of India (NHAI) since 2017.

It’s a matter of nice concern that even after greater than 5 years, up-gradation work is but to be accomplished, he stated.

Stating that the Cuttack-Sambalpur part of NH-55 serves as lifeline to hundreds of thousands of individuals of the Western Odisha, Patnaik stated, “Haphazard construction activities and miserable plight of the road causes frequent accidents leading to loss of human lives.”

Over the past two years, as many as 399 accidents have taken place inflicting 196 fatalities, Patnaik identified.
