Minister P Rajeev said 108 units would be launched this year under the ‘One District One Product’ scheme to produce value-added products on an industrial scale from agricultural products. The government will provide up to 35 per cent of the project cost to start-up units. The unit can get up to Rs 10 lakh. Existing such industries will also receive assistance.
An amount of `4.5 crore has been set apart in the budget for starting individual ventures. The products for implementation of the scheme are categorized by the Industries Department in each district. It is estimated to cost between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 25 lakh per unit. A unit can employ at least 15 people.
Those who want to start a venture should contact the block, municipality and corporation level industrial development officers. The minister said hand-holding facilities would be set up at all centers to help entrepreneurs.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister and was attended by Principal Secretary, Industries, APM Mohammad Haneesh, Director, Bhandari Swagat Ranveer Chand and General Managers, District Industrial Centers.
