Kottayam> Oommen Chandy returns after playing protest drama with Puthuppally residents. Oommen Chandy arrived from Delhi at around 11 in the morning amidst his followers shouting that the people of Puthuppally would not release him.
Earlier in the day, a man had climbed on top of Oommen Chandy’s house and threatened to kill himself, saying he would not be released. Even though Rahul Gandhi said that he would not release Oommen Chandy, he went on the roof. Channels have been competing since morning and showing this scene. At the same time, the women activists marched and began to sit in front of the house, saying that they would not leave their brother anywhere.
The protesters blocked Oommen Chandy’s vehicle and fattened the scene. Oommen Chandy reached out to the protesters in front of the house and shouted, “Our baby, we will not let you go.” Meanwhile, Oommen Chandy got out of the car and informed that he will not leave Puthuppally. Upon hearing this, the suicide bomber also landed. Oommen Chandy said that no one has asked him to contest for the post.
After five days of screening talks in Delhi, the Congress could not find candidates in the constituencies including Nemo. There were rumors that Nemmat Oommen Chandy will contest. Later, the names of Chennithala, Shashi Tharoor and KC Venu Gopal were mentioned. Oommen Chandy’s name came up again in a situation where no one was ready to contest. Kottayam DCC has also written to the High Command asking Oommen Chandy to contest in Puthupally.
Meanwhile, KPCC general secretary Vijayan Thomas, who was wanted by the Congress to contest the polls, resigned yesterday and joined the BJP.
