Pandit Karuppan Award to Ahalya Shankar

Kochi: Veteran BJP chief Ahalya Shankar has been awarded the award named after poet Thilakan Pandit Karuppan. The prize cash is Rs 25,000. Praman has been honored for main many political struggles and protests towards violence towards girls.

Ahalya Shankar, who was born in Mayyazhi, after his marriage, led his public work in Kozhikode. She entered politics by way of the Jana Sangh and contested for the Kozhikode Company Council within the 70s.

In 1982, he contested for the Legislative Meeting from Beypur as a BJP candidate. Later, he contested thrice for Parliament and two occasions for Legislative Meeting.

He held the district and state workplace of Jan Sangh and Janata Party. He held the posts of BJP State General Secretary, Mahila Morcha State President and Nationwide Council Member. He was an energetic presence of the group since its formation. He labored for a very long time as a member and later as a trustee of Sri Veda Vyasa Belief, which was shaped to enhance the training of youngsters in coastal areas.
