Periyar University Vice Chancellor moves Madras High Court to quash FIR

R Jagannathan alleged that the FIR has been filed with the intention of tarnishing his picture and status.

The Vice Chancellor, in his petition, stated that Periyar University, established in 1997, had 27 departments and 118 affiliated faculties and had jurisdiction over Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Krishnagiri districts of Tamil Nadu.

Within the petition to quash the FIR, he stated that when he took over the publish of Vice Chancellor in 2021, there have been many irregularities within the monetary administration of the college.

R Jagannathan stated he has taken a number of steps to take away irregularities and monetary mismanagement and has initiated authorized in addition to departmental proceedings in opposition to educating and non-teaching employees.

He additionally stated that he had suspended and dismissed some workers within the distance schooling division of the college when he found that round Rs 23 lakh had been misappropriated by cast paperwork.

He stated that his life was in peril and likewise argued that he had not dedicated any monetary irregularities.

Justice Anand Venkatesh of Madras Excessive Courtroom will hear the case on January 18.
