Petition in the High Court questioning the Centre’s vaccine policy

Kochi: A petition has been filed in the high court challenging the vaccination policy of the central government. All India Lawyers Union state secretary Adv CP Pramod approached the court. The petition questions the central government’s move to vaccinate people below the age of 45 years at the state’s expense without the central government taking over.

The petition seeks full implementation of the vaccine distribution as the Central Government has taken steps under the Disaster Management Act, including disease control, during Kovid’s first visit to the country. It has also questioned the central government’s move to allow the Center and the state to charge different prices for the vaccine.

Vaccine makers Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech have also been named as defendants in the case. More than 90 per cent of the people in the country have not yet been vaccinated. The petition states that the daily death rate has exceeded 2500. The court will consider the petition tomorrow.
