Rahul Gandhi targeted BJP over Odisha incident, asked, 'From whom should the common citizen expect help?'

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has reacted to the alleged brutality and sexual violence towards the fiancée of a military officer in Odisha's capital Bhubaneswar. Rahul Gandhi focused the state's BJP authorities and mentioned that crimes towards ladies have change into utterly uncontrolled and unbridled below the BJP authorities. This heinous incident is a disgrace for the whole humanity.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi wrote on social media platform X, “The horrific incident in Odisha has raised serious questions on the law and order of the country. An army officer who went to seek help from the police was brutally beaten up and his fiancée was harassed in custody. This disgusting incident is a shame on the entire humanity.”

He additional wrote, “Under the BJP government, crimes against women have become completely uncontrolled and arbitrary. When injustice thrives and finds shelter within the government system itself, then from whom should the common citizen expect help? All the culprits of this incident deserve the strictest legal punishment, strict action needs to be taken against them and an example of justice and security needs to be set before the people of India, especially women.”

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi additionally focused BJP over the Odisha incident. She wrote in a put up, “The whole country is shocked by the way the police brutally and sexually assaulted the fiancée of an army officer who went to the police to seek help in Odisha. The police behaved unjustly with the gang rape victim Dalit girl in Ayodhya and instead of providing justice, put pressure on her, because according to reports, the accused are associated with BJP. BJP governments across the country are working on the policy of turning the police from protectors to predators. In BJP governments, the criminal attitude of the police towards crimes against women actually flourishes by getting protection from the ruling party. In such a situation, what should the women of the country do for safety and justice, where should they go?

On the other hand, former Odisha CM and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik wrote in an X post, “The best way an Military Major and a lady had been handled on the Bharatpur police station is surprising and past comprehension. The best way the police have allegedly handled them has shaken the conscience of the nation. We hope that the BJP authorities of Odisha will take strict motion towards all these concerned on this heinous act. I demand a court-monitored SIT probe and judicial inquiry into this severe incident.”
