Rahul Gandhi meets Kashmiri leaders Rahul met senior Jammu and Kashmir PCC president Ghulam Ahmed Mir and Rajni Patil, who is in charge of Jammu and Kashmir at the AICC, while senior rebel leader Ghulam Nabi Azad was trying to organize his own ranks.
The Jammu conference was attended by senior Congress leaders Anand Sharma, Kapil Sibal, Manish Tiwari, Raj Babbar and Vivek Thanka. Criticism arose at the conference that the Congress was weakening. Ghulam Nabi praised Modi.
Later, Congress workers set fire to Ghulam Nabi’s coffin in several places. In Jammu, PCC general secretary Shanavas Chowdhury led the firing.
Falling on the side of the rebels
More dissident leaders have joined the G-23 group in opposing the current moves. PJ Kurien, Sandeep Dikshit and Ajay Singh were among the 23 signatories to the letter sent by Sonia Gandhi demanding the removal of the Congress. The leaders told the media that they stood by what they said in the letter but did not go overboard. Veerappa Moily had earlier reacted similarly.
