The federal government on Friday mentioned that the Railways has suffered a lack of Rs 259.44 crore through the agitation in opposition to the ‘Agneepath’ scheme. In a reply in Rajya Sabha, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav mentioned that in 2022, Indian Railways suffered a lack of Rs 259.44 crore on account of loss or destruction of railway property.
Vaishnav mentioned, “Separate data has not been maintained with respect to the amount of refunds given to passengers due to disruption of rail services due to public disorder due to agitation after the launch of Agneepath scheme.
