Jaipur. The epidemic Red Alert Public Discipline Fortnight is going on these days to prevent the rising infection of Corona virus in Rajasthan. During this period, continuous action is being taken by Legal Metrology to stop activities like black marketing of essential commodities, profiteering and over-charging of MRP.
Officials of the Department of Legal Metrology conducted 45 inspections in various districts on Tuesday. During this period, penalty of Rs. 35 thousand was imposed in various cases by registering cases against 6 shopkeepers for not displaying the required information on canned goods and finding irregularities like registration. This information has been given by Naveen Jain, Government Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs.
Balaji Trading Company and Subhash & Co. of Cantonment Market firm in Jhunjhunu district were not found to be displaying the information prescribed under PC Rules on wheat and rice packets on which a legal metrology team fined each firm Rs 2,500. On the other hand, in Sikar district, Chauhan Sales, Sikar Tea Store, Matolia Tea Store and Shree Megamart were not able to display the prescribed information on packets of tea, sugar, spices. For this reason, each firm was fined Rs 7,500.
Naveen Jain, Government Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, told that consumer helpline on the consumer helpline toll-free number 1800-180-6030 or WhatsApp number 7230086030 for charging more than the black marketing, profiteering and MRP of essential commodities during the discipline fortnight. Complaint can be lodged.
