Ration cards can be purchased at home in all districts from May

No need to rush to the supply office for a ration card. Those who have applied for the new ration card can now print the card themselves and use it. Once the online application is approved by the Taluk Supply Officer, the ration card in PDF format can be printed. Electronic Ration Card or ‘E Ration Card’ scheme will be implemented in all districts from May.

The card can be applied for through Akshaya Kendras or through the Citizen login at civilsupplieskerala.gov.in. Once the application is submitted and approved by the Taluk Supply Officer or City Ration Officer, the card will reach the applicant’s login page. The password will be sent to the applicant’s mobile phone linked to the ration card. You can use this to print the card.

The technology for the e-ration card was developed by the National Informatics Center. The fee is Rs. Fees can be paid online through e-Treasury. The e-ration card will have no inside pages. You can also apply for changes such as adding, deleting new members or changing the NRI status.

It will come into effect from May 3, Civil Supplies IT Cell officials said. The necessary training was given to the employees. The pilot project was inaugurated by Minister P Thilothaman in Thiruvananthapuram. With the success of this, it will be extended to all districts.
