Wellington: A dairy store proprietor of Indian descent and his household had been left traumatised after robbers stormed his store in West Auckland to steal cigarettes and money.
Uresh Patel from Kaurilands stated he was in the back of the store when burglars entered and attacked on Monday, ripping the until from the counter and stealing cigarettes.
“Three kids came in and one jumped over the counter. Two others came from the other side and grabbed the cash register,” Patel instructed The NZ Herald.
“I heard my wife and daughter screaming. I rushed outside and tried to catch one of them but they attacked me and got away,” he stated.
In accordance with the police, two of the culprits had been discovered and arrested in Glen Eden “without further incident”, and one other was held within the retailer by the general public.
“On top of that traumatising event, we had to deal with the police who came half an hour later, they interrogated us like we are criminals,” Manisha, Patel’s spouse, instructed The NZ Herald.
