Colombo: Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a committee to work with India’s Nationwide Dairy Growth Board (NDDB) to develop the island nation’s dairy business.

The committee consisting of representatives of the private and non-private sectors will work with the multidisciplinary group of the NDDB to organize a brief, medium and long-term plan to extend native milk manufacturing to scale back the nation’s dependence on imported milk powder.

“The NDDB and India’s Amul Milk Company have taken steps to provide the necessary technical support for the production of liquid milk in Sri Lanka,” the President’s Media Division (PMD) mentioned.
