Sports News : Harshada wins gold medal in Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships

New Delhi | Quick rising Indian weightlifter Harshada Garuda received the ladies’s 45kg gold medal on the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent. The 18-year-old Indian lifter lifted a complete of 157kg (69kg and 88kg) to win the gold medal on Monday. He lifted 4 kilograms greater than the 153kg (70kg and 83kg) he lifted when he received the title on the Junior World Championships in May.

India’s Soumya Dalvi received the bronze medal within the 45kg youth class. The bronze medalist on the Youth World Championships lifted 145kg (63kg and 82kg). In males’s 49kg youth class, L Dhanush received the bronze medal in snatch by lifting 85kg. He, nevertheless, completed fourth, lifting 185 kg (85 kg and 100 kg) in whole weight.
Within the continental and world championships, separate medals are awarded for snatch, clear and jerk and whole India, however in Olympics just one medal is awarded for whole weight.
