Traffic halted on old Yamuna bridge as river flows above danger mark

NEW DELHI: With the water degree within the Yamuna river flowing above hazard mark, site visitors on the previous Yamuna (Iron) bridge has been suspended, Delhi Site visitors Police mentioned on Wednesday.

The warning degree of Yamuna is mounted at 204.50m and the hazard degree is at 205.33m and the evacuation degree has been marked at 206m.

On Tuesday, the Yamuna was flowing at 206.20 m which was above the evacuation degree.

An evacuation alert was sounded for individuals dwelling within the low-lying areas.

That is the second time inside two months that the authorities are evacuating the individuals dwelling within the river floodplains resulting from flooding within the low-lying areas. Earlier, the Yamuna had breached the hazard mark of 205.33 meters on August 12, following which round 7,000 individuals have been evacuated from the low-lying areas close to the riverbanks.

Seeing the looming menace of floods, the authorities have began evacuating individuals from the low-lying areas close to the Yamuna Financial institution.
