Travel ban: 3.5 lakh expatriates unable to return to Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY: As many as 3.5 lakh expatriates have been stranded in various countries following the ban imposed on expatriates in the wake of the Kovid epidemic. One and a half lakh people returned from Kuwait during this period. The shortage of workers has hit the labor market hard.

To avoid a crisis in the labor market, various private company managements are demanding that expatriates who are preparing to return follow the procedures prescribed by the Ministry of Health. Leading figures in the sector say that the shortage of workers in various sectors, including drivers, technicians, skilled workers working in the construction sector and cleaning staff, has significantly affected the market.

The number of Kovid cases in the country is increasing day by day. Therefore, Ministry of Health sources have repeatedly stated that the decision to bring back the expatriates will be taken only after examining the current spread of the disease.
